4H Horse Club to compete April 5

Shackelford County 4H had a busy week with district contests and club projects, with more events in the coming weeks.

Emmie Hise competed in the District 7 Fashion Show on Tuesday, March 26atLlano.Clubmembers Artie Bell and Baigh Bell entered storyboards for the competition. Results will be reported next week.

On Wednesday, March 27, Horse Club members visited ACU’s Rhoden Farm.

“The ACU horse team was practicing, so we got towatchthat,”Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said. “The horse judging teams practiced right after.”

The District 7 Horse Judging contest is Friday, April 5 in San Angelo.

On Monday, April 1, a riding session is scheduled at Bell’s residence.

Tuesday, April 2 is the deadline to have thank you notes to bidders from the Shackelford County Livestock Show ready to mail. April 5 is the deadline to order steer tags and heifer tags. Deadline to order tags for sheep and goats is Monday, April 8. Tags are necessary to take animals to fall shows such as the State Fair of Texas.

Bell said a highway cleanup is planned for April, but dates haven’t been determined.

The next club meeting, which will be the last one of the year, is scheduled for Sunday, May 5. Officer elections for next year will be held.
