Albany ISD trustees hiredanewgirlsbasketball coach and a new secondary science teacher, as well as renewingteachercontracts at the regular meeting on Monday, April 15.

Theyalsoaccepted,with regrets, resignations from William Vaughan, Danna Vaughan, and Brittney Harmon.

Ashlyn Bevel was hired as head girls basketball coach. She has been assistant varsity coach at Abernathy for the last two years and before that was at Seminole.

Karen Cluck of Tuscola was employed to teach biology/ anatomy and physiology at the secondary level.

She has been a health science instructor with the Abilene ISD since 2008.

Bothnewemployeeswill beonone-yearprobationary contracts.

It was announced during Monday’s meeting that Nikki Cradduck, who has been teaching secondary science, is moving to a sixth grade classroom position.

Contracts for the teaching staff members were extendedforthenextschool year, and letters of assurance will be sent to the recommended list of paraprofessionals.

Staff salaries were discussed, but no action was taken.

Other Business

•Longtime PEIMS coordinator LillianWheelerhas returned to the NSES office asapart-timestaffmember, Scott reported.

•A school calendar selected by a majority of the AISD staff was adopted by the board, with a start date ofAug. 14, a full week off for Thanksgiving,andgraduation on May 22. The board had previously endorsed a five-day school week.

•Scott went over updates in the TASB local policy, and the board approved the ones that were finalized.

•A donation of $24,067 from Clear Fork Bank was approved as part of the consent agenda for the new gym scoreboard.

•Secondary principal Ezra Chambers reported thattheAcademicBanquet is set for May 6 and the sportsbanquetaweeklater onMay13,workingaround the UIL calendar.
