Participants in the 2024 Shackelford CountyYouth and Livestock Show have until Tuesday, April 2 to complete thank you notes to bidders and meet other obligations.

Showparticipantsmust have completed writing thank you notes to buyers and meet other obligations. Finished notes must be placed in a stamped, addressed envelope ready for mailing. Notes must be verified by Albany FFA advisor Chris Beard or Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell.

Moran FFA advisor Minnie Denson-Bennett said her students must adhere to the same deadline and procedure.

FFA and 4-H members who sold animals have received their lists of buyers who will receive the notes.

All outstanding balances owed to the Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association, Albany FFA, or Shackelford County 4-H must be paid. Also, any students who fed animals attheFFAbarnmustclean their pens. Failure to satisfy either requirement by April 2 will result in checks being withheld.

Stock show checks will be distributed at a time, date, and place to be announced.

Memorial Scholarship Applications Tuesday is also the deadline for applications fortheShackelfordCounty Youth and Livestock Show and the Monte Lewis Memorial scholarships. High school seniors may pick up application forms from their FFA or 4-H advisor.

Applications must be turned in to Ann Riley at the Albany Junior/Senior High office by the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.

Tag Orders

State Fair tags for steer and heifers must be ordered by Friday, April 5. Tags are $25 each.

Deadline to order tags for sheep and goats is Monday, April 8. The tags are $15 each.

Orders for tags for hogs, which are also $15 apiece, will be taken April 1-30.

Stock Show Meeting The Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association annual meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at theAlbany High School Ag Building.

The meeting will include discussion of this year’s show and proposed rule changes.
