Chamber Boil slated tonight

The annual Chamber Boil and Fish Fry for membersof theAlbanyChamber of Commerce will kick off with some Cajun music and food at the Depot Thursday (today) beginning at 6:00 p.m.

“All Chamber members are invited,” Chamber manager Brandi Lehew said. “This is an appreciation event for all current and new members.”

Acheck-in table will be set up in the parking lot at the Chamber office for anyone who still needs to renew a membership or join.

The menu for the event will feature a crawfish andshrimpboilcompletewithpotatoesand corn, as well as fried fish and all the fixings. Water will be provided.

All members whether new or otherwise can sign in at the membership table for several drawings featuring Chamber merchandise.

“Everyonecancheckwithusatthemembership tableandsignupforthedrawings,”Lehew said. “We will have a list of the membership and be able to renew an existing membership or sign you up as a new member.”

Membership prices are $50 for a senior citizen or senior citizen family, $60 for an individual or a family, as well as $125, $150, or $175 for businesses based on the number of employees. Corporate memberships are $300.

There are also $35 membership for nonprofit organizations.

Membership letters were sent out in late January, and a number of individuals and businesses have already renewed for 2024.

“Everyone is welcome to come join us and sign up when they get here, or they can drop by the office before tonight to obtain a membership,” Lehew said. “We will be set up to take cash, cards, or checks, and feel free to bring a friend who might want to join.”

Lehew stressed that the organization exists to promote Albany and Albany businesses.

Reservations are not required.

Lehew said that 100 pounds of crawfish have been ordered, along with shrimp for the Cajun Boil. Fried fish will also be provided along with traditional sides such as french fries and cole slaw.

“Happy Grill will be on handtoprovideonionrings again this year,” she said.

TheGreenGypsybeverage trailer will provide iced tea and lemonade.

“We are really excited,” Lehew said. “The weather should be good, and everyone is welcome. There will be plenty of food.”
