GERRI WINKLER

Gerri Winkler of Clifton, Texas entered into the light of eternity Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in Waco, Texas.

A graveside service was held Saturday, April 6 at Moody Leon Cemetery outside of Moody, Texas.

Lora Geraldine (Gerri) was born on Nov. 11, 1933 in Lamesa, Texas to parents James Ernest and Lora Hanson Barrett. Gerri grew up in Lamesa where she spent countless hours with her twin sister Teenie. She graduated from Lamesa High School and later attended Hardin-Simmons University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She married Lawrence Edward Winkler on Sept. 18, 1956 in Lamesa.

The Winklers moved to Albany, Texas in 1960. Gerri embodied what it meant to be a teacher in multiple arenas of life: she co-founded Stepping Stones Christian Preschool, tutored numerous students, taught Sunday school, led Bible studies, and patiently imparted valuable lessons to her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life, Gerri was a great friend to many, full of love, devotion, and wisdom.

Gerri moved to Clifton in 2013 where she continued to impact the lives of those around her and was known as a woman of prayer who walked closely with God. Family and friends grieve the loss of their prayer-warrior who spent hours in prayer daily for the needs of those around her

Gerri is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Winkler, sister, Teenie, daughter-in-law, Margaret Winkler, and granddaughter, Lee Ann Winkler.

She is survived by her two sons, Larry Winkler and wife Sue of Bryan, and David Winkler and wife April of Meridian. She is also survived by nine of her grandchildren, Marianna Conner, Matthew Winkler and wife Sunni, Phyllis Deitz and husband Greg, Catharina Winkler and husband Jonathan, Sally Winkler, Benjamin Winkler, Jonathan Winkler and wife Lindi, Brittany Straach and husband Tyler, Joe Winkler and wife Macy, and numerous great grandchildren.
