Moran athletes compete at May

Moran high school athletes competed Friday, March 22 at the May track meet. The varsity boys scored four points with JV girls scoring two and JV boys one.

“It was a busy week of track for the kids,” coach John Hughes said. “Overall, they all did well, and I couldn’t be any prouder of their performances.”

For the varsity boys, Garrett Hamilton was fourth in the shot put in addition to competing in discus, 400, and 200. Landon Moreno competed in the discus, shot put, 100, and 200, while Danny O’Keefe competed in the 100 and 400.

In JV boys, Zakyy Sandefer was sixth in the shot put and ran the 100.

For varsity girls, Kieler Carr competed in the long jump, 100, and 200. In JV girls, Emma McCullough was fifth in the 100 hurdles and also ran the 100.

Moran will compete Friday, March 29, at Albany’s Roaring Lion Relays. The District 13-1A meet will be Monday, April 1 at May.

Junior High Track

Moran junior high athletes competed Tuesday, March 19 at the Blanket meet and Monday, March 25 at the district meet at Cross Plains.

“The kids competed extremely well Monday night,”Hughessaid.“There is a lot of potential with this group as they get older.”

At district, Moran girls placedsixthwith22points, while the boys were sixth with 12 points.

For the girls, the foursome of Kelsey Rust, Kaylee Sanchez, Caliann Carroll, and Lizzie Creek placed fourth in the 400 relay and fifth in both 800 and 1600 relays.

Creek was also fifth in the high jump, while Carroll was sixth. Seraiah Henson was fifth in the 2400 and Emmie Hise was sixth in the 1600. All four competed in other events.

Naomi Garza, Jaelynn Courtney, and Raelynn Henderson all competed in the 800 and 400. Lilianna Rodriguez competed in shot and discus and joined Amelia York and Jaeleigh Stelzig in the 100 and 200.

For the boys, the 400 relay of Zeke Henson, JasonBurge,ChristianRodriguez, and Andy Barron wasfourth.Barronwasalso fourth in the 300 hurdles.

All four competed in at least three events.

Tim Hinkle competed in the 800 and 1600 with Rob WilliamsandMiguelRodriguez both in the shot and discus. Christian Rodriguez competed in the 100, 200, and high jump, Dylan Herrodranthe400and200, and Ricky Lee competed in the 100 and 200.

At Blanket, Lilliana Rodriguez was sixth in the girls 200 and Barron was sixth in the boys 300 hurdles.

Elementary Track

The elementary teams competedSaturday,March 23 at Rising Star.

The girls 400 relay of Olena Henshaw, Kamelia Alexander, Demi Sebree, and Romie Henshaw finished fifth. Romie Henshaw was third in both the 400 and 200,aswellascompetingin long and high jumps.

Arianna Rodriguez was third in the 200, fifth in the 100, and also competed in the shot put and discus.

Nevaeh Letney was fourth in the 50 and fifth in the 100 in addition to long jumping.

Alexander was fifth in the 200, sixth in the 100, and also competed in the long and high jumps.

Sebree was fifth in the 100 and also competed in thethrows.OlenaHenshaw was sixth in the 100 and alsocompetedinthejumps.

The boys 400 relay of Zayden Alexander, Gabe Carroll, Michael Courtney, and Jessie Letney placed fourth.

RykerYorkwontheshot put and discus, finished fourth in the 50 and sixth in the 100.

Myles Sebree was second in both the 200 and highjumpandfourthinthe 100. He also long jumped.

Legend Sebree was fourth in the 100, fifth in both throws and sixth in the 50.

Eli Clark was fourth in both the 100 and 200, and alsocompetedinthejumps.

Michael Carroll was fourth in the 200 and also competed in the throws.

Alexander and Letney both took fifth in the 100 andalsolongjumped.Gabe Carroll was fifth in the 100 in addition to competing in the throws.
